Black history is the story of courage, creativity, and people who worked hard to make the world a better place. In this 5 day course, students will learn about important moments in Black history and the inspiring people who helped shape our country. From the struggles of the past to the achievements of today, we will explore how perseverance, community, and hope helped bring about change.
Each day, we will begin our learning with a song that reflects the feelings and experiences of that time in history. Music has always been a powerful way that Black Americans shared their stories, expressed emotions, and inspired others. These songs will help us understand what life felt like during different periods in Black history—from times of hardship and determination to times of celebration and progress.
Through stories, discussions, activities, and music, students will discover how ordinary people showed extraordinary courage. By the conclusion of the course, students will gain a deeper understanding of Black history, and they will also recognize how these narratives relate to their own lives, as they are part of a powerful lineage.
Together, we will listen, learn, sing, and explore the powerful journey of Black People in America!
